I am considering closing my Bank of America checking account due to the monthly fees that will kick in for me soon. However, I’d like to keep the credit cards. As I understand, this is possible and they are considered separate accounts (correct me if wrong). My main question is whether my online banking access would still be available after closing the checking account. For example, I use the website to see and pay the credit card bills (I’m not using the checking account). Just curious if anyone went through this. Thanks.
You do not lose online access to one account just because you close a different account at that institution. If you have a credit card, you’ll have access to the online account for that credit card.

Its standard actually. They only close the accounts you as them to.

Of course, that’s how you access banking products, like credit cards
If you call and ask they can convert your account to a different type that may be a better fit for you, but yes you can still use OLB and the app with just a CC. The payment system is a bit more clunky to pay the card from an outside bank but it’s still doable.
Is there no possibility that you can direct deposit into it? That’s how a lot of folk get around the minimum balance charge

I did this a few months ago when I switched to Sofi for the interest rates. You call BofA and it takes them like 3-5 days to actually close the account, but you login with the same credentials you use now. It’s the same exact interface, but it only has the credit card and no more checking account.
I have a million credit cards with banks I have no checking with. Totally normal.
