Hello,
I’m interested in buying a single family house but there is a large empty land behind it. Not sure It is a Farmland or corn field. I’m not interested to buy a house next to Farmland, specially a corn field. By looking at the map and street view, I cannot say for sure what it is. If it is a conservation land that would be great.
But how do I find out this is a conservation land not a farm land?I know I can go and talk to the people in the area and ask but is there any other way that we can look up online or something. This property is in South Windsor Connecticut. I live 4 hours from this property so I dont want to drive all the way there and find-out it is a cornfield.
Thanks
The ounty property appraiser should show.
You can find the tax maps online. Will at least give you a sense on the parcel, it’s size in relation to your own and who controls it.
As others said, check the county appraiser website. Also check the city zoning map or future land use map and you can see what the land is designated as.
There’s an app called OnX that I use for scouting land to hunt. Sign up for the free 1 week trial. You can search the address and it will provide the outlines for each parcel of land and the owner. The info is available whether the land is conservation land, state owned land, individually owned, etc.
– all properties have zoning identifications so, start with that.
