Yeah the title pretty much says it. I’m trying to get my credit score better by just paying off debt one at a time. This is the last one I want to pay off. I’ve called a few times, it won’t let me connect to an actual person and always ends up hanging up. There’s no online services or anything. Does anyone have advice on what I should do with that one? I know debt laws are different in some states but anything would help at this point. This feels crazy that I’m the one chasing them to pay.
- Next 33, no debt. Invest in first house or continue to rent and invest for compound interest?
- Previous New job has 403b and I have a 401k. What?
Don’t worry brother they’ll find you
>I know debt laws are different in some states
Tell us more about the debt or what state you’re in and we could some advice.
Maybe they have no proof you owe it so they don’t want to waste their time, or it’s old enough that they can’t sue you anyway.
I had that happen a while back. The company that owned my bad debt closed and did not sell the debt to anyone else. I received nothing from them. I called and emailed and tried every method of contact I could find. Eventually the debt just disappeared.
If you just pay it and they update it to show $0 balance it won’t help your credit scores. You need to find a way to get the collections account deleted.
How old is the debt? Meaning, how long has it been since you last made a payment?
If they don’t reply dispute it with the credit bureau. High chance it will just fall off.
